Cross Border LTL Freight Costs Continue to Increase

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 0.3% in June when compared with May results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased 1.0% when compared to May.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 15.56% of Base Rates in June versus 15.46% in May.

“Cross Border LTL Freight Costs continue to increase this month. Although there were slight increases in Cross Border TL, these were mostly offset by decreases in the LTL and Truckload Domestic costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 0.3% in May when compared with April results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased 1.2% when compared to April.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 15.46% of Base Rates in May versus 16.04% in April.

“Total Freight Costs increased marginally this month. Although there were slight increases in LTL and Truckload Cross Border Costs, these were mostly offset by decreases in the LTL and Truckload Domestic costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.

LTL Total Freight Costs Increase

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 0.6 % in April when compared with March results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased marginally, less than 0.1% when compared to March.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 16.04 % of Base Rates in April versus 17.02% in March.

“LTL Total Freight Costs increased, driven by Cross Border LTL and a slight increase in Domestic LTL costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Domestic Truckload decreased while Cross Border Truckload Costs saw a slight decrease,” continued Payne. “Additionally, we saw some changes in trends in April. Domestic LTL increased for the first time since last June, while Domestic Truckload and Transborder Truckload had their first decreases since September and July 2014, respectively.”

LTL Total Freight Costs Stabilize – Truckload Increases Continue

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.6 % in March when compared with February results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by  2.7 % when compared to February.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 17.02 % of Base Rates in March versus 16.02 % in February.

“LTL Total Freight Costs appear to be stabilizing with a small decrease in Domestic LTL and a slight increase in Cross border LTL.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx.”Domestic Truckload has seen 6 straight months of increases while Cross Border Truckload has now seen 8 straight months of increases. ” continued Payne.

Truckload Continues to Drive Increases in Total Freight Costs

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.2 % in February when compared with January results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by    2.6 % when compared to January.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 16.02 % of Base Rates in February versus 17.22 % in January.

“Total Freight costs continue to rise driven by Truckload activity in February, despite decreasing fuel costs.” said Doug Payne, President &COO, Nulogx. “Once again Cross Border and Domestic LTL Total Costs slid in February, but were out-weighed by the Domestic and Cross Border TL increases. Cross Border Truckload base rates are 18.5 % higher than a year ago, while LTL rates – both Domestic and Cross Border – are more than 10% below.  Domestic Truckload rates are very near the level of a year ago” continued Payne.

Truckload & Accessorials Continue to Drive Increases in Total Freight Costs

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.4 % in January 2015 when compared with December results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by    2.8 % when compared to December 2014.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 17.22 % of Base Rates in January versus 18.56 % in December.

“Total Freight costs continue to rise driven by Truckload activity in January despite decreasing fuel costs.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx. “Once again Cross Border and Domestic LTL Total Costs slid in January, but were out-weighed by the Cross Border and Domestic TL increases.  Of particular note, we have seen a steady increase in accessorial charges, as % of Total Freight spend, since May 2014.” continued Payne.

Truckload Drives Increase in Total Freight Costs

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.7 % in December when compared with November results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by  3.0 % when compared to November 2014.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 18.56 % of Base Rates in December versus 17.95 % in November.

“Total Freight costs continue to rise driven by Truckload activity in December.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx. “Cross Border and Domestic LTL Total Costs slid in December, but were out-weighed by the Cross Border and Domestic TL increases.  LTL costs have continued to drop in 2014, particular in the second half.  Truckload costs, however, have been increasing over the past several months, and the Cross Border TL is significantly higher than December of 2013.  This has produced an overall cost that is slightly higher in December 2014 than the same time in 2013.” continued Payne.

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 1.0 % in November when compared with October results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by 1.6 % when compared to October 2014.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 17.95 % of Base Rates in November versus 19.35 % in October.

“Overall, Total Freight costs continue to rise while fuel decreases.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Total & Base Freight cost increased in all sectors with the exception of Domestic LTL. Year over Year, Cross Border Truckload costs have increased while Total Costs in the other sectors have decreased.” continued Payne.

Total Freight Costs Rise 1.2%

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 1.2 % in October when compared with September results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by 1.4 % when compared to September 2014.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 19.35 % of Base Rates in October versus 20.75 % in September.

“Despite the decrease in Fuel Costs, there was still an increase in total freight costs.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx. “This increase was driven by Truckload costs, as the 4 month rolling average of LTL costs showed a slight decrease.” continued Payne.

Total Freight Costs continue to Decline

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers dropped by 0.83 % in September when compared with August results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 0.84 % when compared to August 2014.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 20.75 % of Base Rates in September versus 21.48 % in August.

“ Freight rates continue to decrease in all sectors, other than the slight increases seen in Cross border Truckload.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Overall, total freight costs are 0.75% above year earlier, Domestic LTL and Cross border Truckload are above, while Domestic Truckload and Cross border LTL are below year over year.” continued Payne.
